School profile makes a slow entry
Instead they must complete a school profile,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], to be published online. However, two weeks into November,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], schools were still waiting for the DfES to publish guidance on preparing the profiles. The template provided for each school will already include data supplied by the DfES. Schools will then add data on their performance and fill in a number of ‘narrative sections’ about their activities. These will be between 100 and 200 words and headings are expected to include: - What have been our successes this year? - What are we trying to improve? - How have our results changed over time? - How are we making sure that every child gets teaching to meet their individual needs? - How do we make sure our pupils are healthy, safe and well supported? - What have we done in response to Ofsted? - How are we working with parents and the community? Although schools were told that profiles including their relevant central data would be available for completion during November, the DfES suggested that schools might like to wait until the spring term to complete them as the data would not be validated until then. There is still a statutory requirement to publish some information that used to be in the annual report but will not be included in the school profile. As a result,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], the following items will now have to appear in the school’s prospectus: - Information on arrangements for the admission of pupils with disabilities. - Details of steps to prevent disabled pupils being treated less favourably than other pupils. - Details of existing facilities to assist access to the school by pupils with disabilities. - The accessibility plan (required under the Disability Discrimination Act 1995) covering future policies for increasing access to the school by pupils with disabilities. - Information about the implementation of the governing body’s policy on pupils with special educational needs and any changes to the policy during the last year.
The exclusionThe head teacher wrote to the parents of R and F telling them that neither R nor F could come back to school, but that they would be given help in completing their course at home. He should, of course, have told the parents immediately, ideally by telephone followed by a letter, of their right to make representations to the governing body.
