The Comedic Stars of The Goods: Live Hard, Sell Hard
This movie definitely brings the laughter and has enough shock factor to keep the audience hanging on for more until the very end. Though the audience left laughing and rehashed their favourite moments of the film the memories of the movie fade fast. The Goods: Live Hard, Sell Hard is an entertaining and lighthearted comedy that will help wipe away the stress of a long week.
The GoodsStarring: Jeremy PivenWritten by: Andy Stock & Rick StempsonDirected by: Neal BrennanRunning time: 89 MinutesRated: R
Don [link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Jibby (Ving Rhames), Babs (Kathryn Hahn), Dick (Charles Napier) and Brent (David Keochner) hit the pavement hard using their unique skill sets to push used cars off the lot [link widoczny dla zalogowanych], sometimes literally. With each member of the group battling their own demons, life and love are intimately explored.
The group pulls together with the salesmen of Selleck Motors on the 4th of July long weekend to move 211 cars that stand in the way of Ben keeping his dealership. While battling customers and the competition the guys (and gal) dig into their own wild problems. When Don begins to fall for Ben’s daughter Ivy (Jordana Spiro) he develops a personal vendetta towards her fiancée Paxton (Ed Helms). Paxton is pushing to take over Selleck motors not only because he is the competition but for practice space for his burgeoning boy band.
The ragtag ensemble cast includes humorous heavy hitters like Jeremy Piven, Kathryn Hahn and, in a supporting role, Ken Jeong who pull out all the stops in this very physical comedy. The gags and rapid-fire jokes make the movie literally a laugh a minute. The Goods: Live Hard, Sell Hard seems to be a throwback to Used Cars starring Kurt Russell which came out over 20 years ago but remains a cult hit.
The auto sales profession can be a difficult one but new movie The Goods: Live Hard, Sell Hard isn’t implying that life [link widoczny dla zalogowanych], as a salesman is hard. This comedy runs away with the stereotype of a used car salesman and gives the job title a personality of it’s own.
To save Selleck Motors from an opposing dealer owned by soon to be in-laws Ben Selleck (James Brolin) contracts Don ‘The Goods’ Ready (Jeremy Piven), a salesman with a crack team of fellow sales people, to revive stalled sales on his used car lot in Temecula California. The lines of decency and legality are blurred on and off the lot as the team works their magic.
