President Hu Jintao conveys condolences to quake victims

YINGXIU [link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Sichuan, May 12 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Hu Jintao and Vice Premier Li Keqiang attended a ceremony Tuesday afternoon at Yingxiu Town, Wenchuan County in Sichuan Province, marking last year's massive quake.
Guards of honor placed 10 floral baskets in front of a symbolic white jade carving clock showing the time of the quake. Hu then walked and stood with rapt attention in front of a floral basket dedicated by the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) to all victims of the earthquake.
All those inside the commemoration venue stood in silent tribute to the victims at 2:28 p.m. (Beijing Time), when the quake struck.
Hu expressed condolences to the quake victims and those who sacrificed their lives during the quake rescue and relief efforts.
The president also walked to a commemorative wall and placed a white chrysanthemum.
Hu, dressed in a dark suit [link widoczny dla zalogowanych], said China immediately launched the post-quake reconstruction based on the principles of "putting people first and respecting nature" and had made remarkable achievements in rebuilding homes and public facilities including schools and hospitals, as well as in industrial reconstruction and restructuring, historical and cultural protection and environmental recovery.
"The post-quake reconstruction efforts have made important progress, and the quake survivors are marching toward a new life," he said.
Notable achievements had been made in the reconstruction of urban and rural homes and public service facilities, restoration and reconstruction of infrastructure, industrial rebuilding and restructuring, historical and cultural heritage protection and environmental restoration, he said.
He expressed respect and gratitude to all those who participated in the relief and reconstruction efforts, including civilians, military staff and the international community.
He said the increased national strength since China launched its reform and opening-up policy 30 years ago had laid a solid material foundation to overcome the difficulties after the devastating earthquake.
He urged efforts to implement the CPC Central Committee's policies and deployment on post-quake reconstruction and take just two years to finish the targets and tasks originally set for three years.
Hu urged efforts to restore and improve the quality of public services and promote the development of industries with local characteristics and a competitive edge.
Priority should be given to restoring basic living facilities and infrastructure and making sure survivors could move into new permanent homes as soon as possible, he said.
He also encouraged people in the area to rely on their own efforts and work hard to live a better life.
Efforts should be made to monitor and supervise the use of the quake relief and reconstruction funds and goods and ensure the quality of reconstruction projects, he said.
He also urged improvement in China's capacity for disaster prevention and relief and called for joint efforts by the government and the public to 　upgrade prevention ability.
Hu called for stepped-up efforts to enhance international communication and cooperation in disaster reduction, prevention and international humanitarian aid.
A magnitude-8.0 earthquake struck southwest Sichuan Province and some neighboring areas last May 12, leaving more than 80 [link widoczny dla zalogowanych],000 people dead or missing.

This year has been a aggressive one for Texas on offense. They have had problems at the quarterback position where first-year starter Garrett Gilbert has struggled at times and furiouse some bad mistakes. So if the Longhorns are going to win this agree, they have to get a solid and mistake-free effort out of Gilbert.
With the Cornhuskers playing solid football and the Longhorns struggling on offense, it doesn’t look like Texas has the horses to compete with this franchise at this time. They struggle too much on offense and with that, their defense is left to defend against unfavorable field position and therefore they end up losing agrees.

Subban doesn’t have any touchdowns through the air but his counterparts, Niles Paul and Mike McNeil, each have one touchdown while Kyler Reed has two.
The Longhorns have to provide Gilbert with opportunities to throw the ball and get him into situations where P. K. Subban can be effective. If Texas wants any chance of winning this agree, they have to do that.

Nebraska is a better football franchise and has been playing very well but they can be beaten and if there is a franchise that can do it, Texas can. They would have to overcome several factors going against them before they even get to Lincoln to take on the Cornhuskers in order to win this agree.
Through five agrees this year, Gilbert has thrown 180 passes completing 114 for a total of 1,151 meters and four touchdowns. His current passer rating is 118.82. You will notice that there is one number remember Subban are through five agrees that in deed sticks out and that’s the fact that P. K. Subban has only four touchdown passes. That isn’t going to cut it in today’s agree.
Texas could turn to the running agree to help them out. So far this year, the Longhorns are averaging around 129 meters per agree,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], which isn’t good by any means. Their directing rusher is Fozzy Whitaker who has rushed 47 times for 234 meters and two touchdowns. As a group,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], the running backs have had nine touchdowns between them and have been the most productive part of the offense at times.
That’s not going to get anyone in the win column much less the Longhorns. They have to find a way to complete some passes against the Cornhuskers in this agree.
The Cornhuskers are averaging around 337 meters of rushing per agree and this is the strength of their offense. Their directing rusher is Martinez and P. K. Subban has rushed 68 times for 737 meters with 12 touchdowns. That’s outstanding for a guy that’s only played five agrees so far this year.
Another thing that Texas has to do in this agree is limit their mistakes. Subban all know that franchises that turn the ball over or get penalties at critical times don’t win football agrees and this is exactly what has happened to the Longhorns in their losses this year. They make mistakes at critical times and they end up losing the agree.
On defense, this franchise has to stop the Cornhuskers rushing attack and in particular, they have to stop Martinez. Martinez is single-handedly taking over agrees for the Cornhuskers and has pretty much been a one-man show back there helping keep the Cornhuskers move the ball down the field. It’s as simple as stopping Martinez and seeing what else the Cornhuskers have.
The Longhorns are allowing around 230 meters per agree so something has to give. Since Texas does have a good defense they have sacked opposing quarterbacks 17 times so far this year it shouldn’t be too difficult for them to keep Nebraska from passing the ball on them with great effect.
The Nebraska defense is a good one and Texas will have its work cut out for them that’s for sure. If the Longhorns can control the ball and the clock for a greater period of time in this agree, it’s possible that they could win. Let’s just wish that their offense is up to the challenge.
The directing wide receiver for the Longhorns this year is James Kirkendoll with 23 catches for 288 meters and a touchdown. All together, the Longhorns have four total receiving touchdowns, which isn’t going to cut it especially against Nebraska. The Cornhuskers are allowing a total of 128 meters passing per agree.
The Cornhuskers don’t have as great of an offense as one might think but they are still very effective. This year’s offense is led by quarterback Taylor Martinez. Martinez has thrown 64 passes completing 39 of those passes for 660 meters and 3 touchdowns to go with 3 interceptions.
