Analogue Mixing Console
If you don't belong to that rare group who absolutely detest music you would be familiar with the different types of beats going on around you. With the new technologies now in combination with music, you hear mixed music which is the result of mixing console. Also called "audio mixer" and "sound board", these mixing consoles are devices used to combine or change in different ways the audio signals. These mixing consoles are of 2 kinds – analogue or digital. Though with its versatility digital mixing consoles have become more selling and useful, analogue mixing consoles are believed to be more popular as they have buttons or knobs for each single function. Easy to use and simple, they provide more response to varying performance conditions. They do take up a little more space than digital consoles but analogue mixing consoles can be learnt faster and are easier to manage. As the name indicates, analogue consoles depend on analogue microphone preamplifiers that characterize the sound quality (incidentally, digital ones too). Though not as much as the digital consoles, analogue consoles also deal with the overloading and clipping in a graceful way without affecting the quality of the sound. A minor issue with the analogue mixing console is the background hiss that is produced. However, for a live performance a good stage management can effectively hide this. With the modern electronic design devices, both the consoles come up with good quality sound, thus making the question "which is better, digital or analogue?" a difficult one to answer. However, currently, both, digital as well as analogue mixing consoles, are associated with quality performance on stage and studio recordings.
