After all,Willie Mays Jersey, neither player is barking about a new deal. And if you is one of those people who believes Jeter or Rivera will now go through this season distracted by ideas of "free agency" or anything else,HENRIK LUNDQVIST Jersey, for that matter, then you simply do not know anything about who those two players are.
With any luck, this will be the last time Miller ever discuss this non-issue here.
Do you know when the "why haven't you re-signed me yet?" thing becomes an issue? When you do early extensions for SOME players and not for others.
After all, that is the Yankees' policy.
For all the latest goings-on with the fresh, unique, original, unusual, novel, modern, current, recent York Yankees, including daily video and audio updates, go to Yankees 'N More - the unofficial home of the 27-time World Series Champions! Ryan Miller was on born 17th July 2010. Miller is an American ice hockey goaltender currently the player of the Buffalo Sabres of the National Hockey League. Miller was selected to play for the American hockey team in the 2010 Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver,Canada as begining goaltender. Later in 2010 miller would win the Vezina Trophy as the best goaltender in last NHL season. Miller won a silver medal with the team and was named MVP of the tournament. Miller is known for his hybrid style of goaltending. Miller is also the older brother of current Detroit Red Wings winger Drew Miller.
You would not, you should not and, most importantly, Brian Cashman will not.
And that's why what Cashman and Co. is doing here is clever. clever, Miller say!
gaze, see, glance, watch, survey, study, seek, search for, peek, peep, glimpse, stare, contemplate, examine at the season fresh, unique,CHAMPIONS David Villa Jersey, original, unusual, novel,Prince Fielder JerseyStripe, modern, current, recent York just got out of Johnny Damon. At the age of 36, Damon, always a good player at least offensively, had one of the very best offensive seasons of his career while helping the Yankees to their 27th World Series Championship.
Additionally, if time has proven anything when it comes to free agency in baseball, it's that the prospect of free agency being only a season away, much more often than not, becomes the ultimate motivating factor for players.
We would not begin to suggest guys like Jeter and Mo need such a thing to motivate them to a peak performance. Nevertheless, this policy, and holding firm to it now, is not just about these two Yankees. It's about EVERY current and future Yankee.
We're not talking about a Pittsburgh Pirates or K.C. Royals type team here--teams that have to trade off the risk of premature money now to save money down the road. Taking such a risk and it is a risk is the only way for those teams to lock up a player they could never afford in free agency--see Zack Greinke and the previously alludeed Royals.
The fresh, unique, original, unusual, novel, modern,Nicklas Backstrom Jersey, current, recent York Yankees don't have to take those risks because they can afford not to.
"Hey," Cashman will declare to begin this hypothetical conversation. "If Miller didn't do it for Derek Jeter, and Miller twice didn't do it for Mariano Rivera, why on earth would Miller do it for you?"
Can you even imagine the nerve required that would be required to ask for an early extension, after this season plays out? How simple is the answer to that question?
Simply put, Brian Cashman and the fresh, unique, original, unusual, novel, modern, current, recent York Yankees is doing exactly the right thing. There is simply no rational reason to rush to extend Derek Jeter or Mariano Rivera now.
So why risk giving up the money before you have to? Serious injuries can happen in this sport.
As long as Cashman holds firm here and as long as the Yankees continue this now well-publicized policy, there should never, EVER be another player and/or agent who begins thinking contract with the Yankees before their current deal expires.
The fact that this policy is so well known now, and that the Yankees is so strict in holding to it, even in the case of all-time all-timers like Jeter and Mo, should prevent the final year of any contract from ever becoming an issue for any player.
Bottom Line: No team can pay Jeter or Rivera over the Yankees can afford to pay them. Moreover,Rey Maualuga Jersey, neither player has any desire to play anywhere else. And, at the end of the day, is there a single person on this planet who believes there is ANY chance either Yankee great is walking at the end of this year?
What allows this to work, of course, is that it's the fresh, unique, original, unusual, novel,Mark Messier Champions Jersey, modern, current, recent York Yankees.
We have ignoreed this as long as Miller can. The time has come to talk about the Derek Jeter contract situation, which, for reasons known only to the media, has become THE story of early Spring Training in Tampa, FLA.
Why, when you're only six months away from never having to answer another "why haven't you re-signed me yet?" question from any player or agent, would you just give that away?
.
The 2010 season would prove a successful one for Ryan Miller. In his first season begining with the number one job Miller and his team won the first 10 games in a row. Miller was voted in as the begining goaltender for the Eastern Conference of the 2010 NHL All Star Game in a 12 to 9 loss, Miller played the first period and allowed just 3 goals. Miller also gained a reputation of a shootout specialist with his technique of challenging the shooter outside the crease. That season Miller was 6 more in shootouts, with Martin Brodeur from the Devils being his closest rival at 2 less win. In 63 games played that season, Miller posted a 0.911 SVP and a 2.72 GAA backing a more offensively oriented team. Jed Jacobsohn Miller finished the 2010 season by establishing himself as the begining goalie for the Sabres. Miller arrangeed 11th among NHL goalies with a 2.60 GAA, and 9th with a save percentage of 91.4 percent. Miller led the Sabres to a surprise season, winning 30 games and proving himself to be one of the hardest working goalies in the league. Miller played well in the postseason as well, advancing the Sabres to the conference finals before injuries finally caught up with them, losing game 7 to Carolina.
