I have confronted the new minimalism and decided to put a positive slant on it.
All the talk this autumn/winter about serious, grown-up clothes, and clean lines, louboutin shoes, devoid of decoration, can be slightly intimidating, especially if you are a bit of a boho at heart.

The trick to minimalism is to maximise it.

It's not that I'm exactly anti-minimalism. I've just always felt it lacked the F Factor, ie. any sense of fun and frivolity, plus there is always the chance, if you're not very careful, that it can look a little bit 'mumsy'.

The basis of the look, of course, is tailoring - and that can only be flattering; look on it as Boho without the bias-cut. And, of course, it need not be all plain or camel or grey.
But,bose headphone discount karan do it_9427,asics mexico mid runner, in the last few weeks, I have had a bit of an epiphany. It all started with a very prim-and-proper LBD from Peacocks with which it was impossible to wear any of my favourite tribal necklaces. Then, north face vest In The Bag_2222, I began covetting some of the amazing pieces Jil Sander, north face bags uk, the Queen of Minimalism, has designed in her third +J collection for Uniqlo. Finally, even with winter on the prowl, I started to accept that much as I love it, dressing for the cold weather, does not begin and end with leopard-print.

This season's grown-up tailoring can be unforgiving but, says Hilary Alexander , a few fun touches will lighten up the starkness.

I watched many of the designer shows, back in February-March, with a sense of impending doom. That sea of camel - which does not suit my complexion; those waisted, flared trousers - hopeless on someone who barely reaches 5ft 3in; those plain, straight coats - wonderful when worn by beautiful, flaxen-haired, fashion-fairies on the catwalk, but how about on the 40-and 50-somethings and above who prefer their clothes to make them feel a bit pretty?

In the high street, Marks & Spencer has done this extremely well in coats in all-over, glitter-wool tweed or in a wool-mix with a deep sequinned-plaid hem, asics outlet store, while a similar juxtaposition of herringbone-tweed and leather transforms an otherwise basic little grey shift. And then there is faux-fur, the fastest route to ensure your minimalism goes for Glam rather than Gran. I loved the idea of deep, black fake fur pockets on a camel coat and the Per Una, faux-chinchilla shrug-stole-wrap with one armhole, so it can be worn in a variety of ways, ugg classic short, is truly, madly Mad Men to the max.
Closer inspection of the collections by the three chief protaganists of the New Minimalism reveals a few clever wheezes which offset the otherwise stark simplicity. Phoebe Philo at Céline, for example, softened her clean, lean lines with lace, shredded chiffon and shaggy wool. Hannah MacGibbon at Chloé finished her classic, man-cut, beige trousers with a bow-tied waist, while Stella McCartney stirred see-through and sequins into the mix. Even Consuelo Castiglioni's Marni collection put a slightly eccentric twist on minimalism by mixing colours and fabrics.
