I have been into genealogy for a few years now but only started seriously getting into a a couple of years ago and what a great bunch of stuff I've found [link widoczny dla zalogowanych]!!My father's family (I, like most people [link widoczny dla zalogowanych], started tracing my surname) came from England in themid 1600s and were in the 3rd wave of settlers of Jamestowne Colony. My family has been in America since the 1640s. Before that they were a prominent family in western England, near the Welsh border. My ancestor that immigrated was a grocer in London before he came to the colony.His grandson, my direct ancestor [link widoczny dla zalogowanych], married a woman who's dead husband owed a lot of money and my ancestor had to pay the dead first husband's debts. That was surprising...I didn't know they did it that way back then. Anyway, it left him broke.Some years later, another ancestor got a public whipping for something that she did in a church (Idon't remember what it was but it was something that I wouldn't have thought twice about today--I think that she talked or fell asleep or something stupid). Anyway, they actually whipped her in public for it!! Man, talk about your harsh punishments.I had ancestors that owned slaves. I wasn't too surprised at that but what did shock me was when a distant coyilai：
