6:51 PM ET: Good defensive stand again by the Cards. If they win this game, it will be because of their defense alone.
6:45 PM ET: As I say that, an almost pick right there. What has hurt Arizona is their inability to run on first down. Other than the one touchdown drive, which was all runs, the Cards haven't run it effectively.
6:31 PM ET: By the way,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Anderson has missed on 8 of his last 9 throws. Despite the fact the Cardinals have almost 100 yards rushing, it's been tough to get the play action going. That and Anderson and Fitz are clearly not on the same page.
7:09 PM ET: Gotta love Whisenhunt's faith. I wouldn't have put Komar back on the field, but Komar rewards Whizzy's faith with a nice first down catch.
6:28 PM ET: This is where the Cardinals miss Beanie Wells. They need to put together a clock-killing drive. And the Rams just don't respect Derek Anderson right now.
6:20 PM ET: Good battle there between Stephen Jackson and Adrian Wilson. Jackson won that time...By the way, did anyone think that week one might end with the Rams and Seahawks on top of the division?
7:12 PM ET: I'm not sure why the Cards are staying away from the run. I think Anderson would do better if he had some support...But Derek seems to be getting his act together...
6:56 PM ET: I have to say, the offensive player that's impressed me the most is LaRod Stephens-Howling. He is quick, but he isn't afraid to take a hit either..
6:40 PM ET: This has to be frustrating for Cardinals fans used to watching Warner. Anderson played so much better in preseason. Does anyone want Leinart back now?
6:34 PM ET: Hopefully that will help Anderson get going. The good news for Cards fans is that he hasn't throw a pick...yet.
6:37 PM ET: Wow. The Cardinals dodged a big bullet there. Okay, if I'm Whisenhunt, I'm taking out Anderson...now.
7:13 PM ET: Poor LaRod Stephens-Howling. Two good runs taken away from him. I just saw Breaston's stats. He's really stepped up big for Anderson, making several bad throws look like easy catches...
6:46 PM ET: If the Rams keep up this defensive performance, they'll be much improved this year. Their plan to blitz Anderson constantly has worked...
7:44 PM ET: Unless a miracle happens,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], the game appears over...
6:04 PM ET: So some quick thoughts on some stats--take heart Cards fans. Derek Anderson may not be Kurt Warner, but at least he's not doing what Alex Smith is doing. And by that I mean having thrown 2 picks.
6:36 PM ET: Can't blame Breaston too much there. But if I were him,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], I'd have let the corner go. Stephens-Howling had another great run erased...
6:38 PM ET: Now the Cardinals are self-destructing...I trust the coaching staff, but this is getting out of hand...
Good night everyone.
7:22 PM ET: Adrian Wilson on the sideline is not good news for Arizona. Hopefully he can get back in quickly...
7:22 PM ET: Paris Lenon laying the wood on his ex-teammate Stephen Jackson...and then he talks smack to him. Funny stuff...
6:22 PM ET: You see Bradford's ability to hang in the pocket there...and a dumb penalty on Calais Campbell. The Cardinals defense has to step up here. The offense is really sputtering...
7:30 PM ET: INTERCEPTION... I knew there was a reason Kerry Rhodes was signed...And so ends a great day for the defense...actually wait,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], the Rams have all three timeouts left. It ain't over yet.
7:01 PM ET: Great throw by Bradford. Not sure why the Cards didn't blitz though. They really could've caused a bad play...or even a safety.
6:09 PM ET: That halftime took way too long for me...don't know about you...but hey football season is back. Amen?
7:03 PM ET: The stats don't tell the story in this game. Both run defenses have been great. Both QBs have now thrown 30+ passes. It doesn't feel like it though..
6:25 PM ET: That fumble is coming back...offsides. I really hate it for Arizona's defense. They blew it there...
6:11 PM ET: Welcome to the Cardinals Kerry Rhodes. Other than that great drive by the Rams to end the half, the Cards D has been stout.
7:38 PM ET: Unbelievable. It's on the defense yet again to make a stand...Terrible job by Hightower.
6:52 PM ET: Another throw that misses Fitz...I've never been this adamant about taking a QB out...but at least he found Breaston across the middle...
7:39 PM ET: Have to feel for Sam Bradford. If he has Arizona's receivers,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], this game would be over...
7:45 PM ET: That fumble caused by Breaston right before the TD by the Rams DT is by far the biggest play of the game.
7:38 PM ET: If this were the Chicago-Detroit crew,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], it'd be a fumble for sure...
6:23 PM ET: My bad on the earlier note on penalties. This has been a fairly clean game actually. Both teams now have four.
The NFL banned substances policy has been acclaimed by some and criticized by others, but the policy is the longest running in American professional sports, beginning in 1987. The current policy of the NFL suspends players without pay who test positive for banned substances as it has since 1989 4 games for the first offense eight games for a second offense, and 12 months for a third offense. The suspended games may be either regular season games or playoff games. 7:46 PM ET: INTERCEPTION... Don't think a better person could've ended the game for Arizona.
7:15 PM ET: TOUCHDOWN... Nice throw by Anderson there. So despite a frustrating game for Fitzgerald, he came away with a TD. Now it's up to the D to hold Sam Bradford and the Rams off the board...
6:55 PM ET: Boy, the Cardinals are lucky to be down only 3 here at the end of the quarter. But if they can stick in a TD on this drive, they'll be in good shape.
7:19 PM ET: Nearly a pick there by DRC. I think I should've posted a while ago that the Rams are obviously staying away from throwing on him. (Although they did on the very next play.) Hence, the big day from Clayton. They're definitely picking on Toler.
7:23 PM ET: Clayton again burning the Cardinals. Excellent protection for Bradford...
7:26 PM ET: This game will ultimately come down to the defense unfortunately. Derek Anderson came alive too late in this game...
6:44 PM ET: And just when I thought all was lost, the Cards pull out a shock 3rd down conversion. Huge.
7:45 PM ET: The Rams coaching staff isn't helping Bradford any. They've mismanaged this drive badly...
7:05 PM ET: Another big stand by the Cardinals on D. THey really need to try to pound away at the Rams this upcoming drive.
7:29 PM ET: That almost turned into another spectacular DRC INT...
7:43 PM ET: Bradford actually looked like Derek Anderson there...
7:00 PM ET: Welcome to the NFL Max Komar. That's his second fumble of the game. Whisenhunt isn't happy.
6:32 PM ET: Is there something wrong with Max Hall? What in the world is Anderson doing? I hate to be so blunt, but that was a horrible throw.
7:24 PM ET: Win or lose, hats off to Sam Bradford. I was just saying to someone that his debut in my mind is more impressive than Matt Ryan's--Ryan actually had receivers. Bradford really doesn't.
6:15 PM ET: Max Hall anyone? Derek Anderson isn't helping himself very much in this game. Although that snap wasn't all his fault...
7:37 PM ET: That's a close call. Still, Hightower's only responsibility is to hold on to the ball...
Anderson, by the way, is 10/19 for 101 yards. NFL players occasionally will petition the NFL to allow them to wear a number that is not in line with the numbering system. Brad Van Pelt who is a linebacker who entered the NFL in 1973 with the New York Giants, wore number 10 during his 11 seasons with the club despite not being covered by the grandfather clause. New Orleans Saints running back Reggie Bush petitioned the NFL to let him keep the number 5 which he used at USC in 2006 but was later denied.
7:28 PM ET: Final in Seattle. Anybody ready to crown the 49ers champs now?
6:26 PM ET: Fortunately for the Cards, the pass D has been solid. If the offense can only get going now...
6:58 PM ET: That was a much better throw by Anderson. Fitz has to come down with that. I feel bad saying that though...
7:41 PM ET: On the edge of your seat? I am..another drop by Clayton...
Well, Cards fans,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], it was ugly, but a win is a win. There's a lot of things to work on though...
