Cory blushed, craned his neck, and gazed up at the stars. In a gruff [link widoczny dla zalogowanych], hesitant voice he said [link widoczny dla zalogowanych], "I'm not a real cowboy."
"No?" She let her gaze slide over his body, from the tip of his pointy, dusty cowboy boots, to his Texas tie. Languidly [link widoczny dla zalogowanych], she asked, "What are you then?"
"A venture capitalist from Chicago." He cocked a half grin at her. "I thought I'd come here to find a good old fashioned country girl."
The irony caught her off guard and she chuckled. "I'm from New York City. I wanted a good old fashioned country boy."
His gaze turned serious as he hauled her back against him. "Too late. . . . I'm staking my claim and I'll fight any of those cowboys that come near you."
"Ditto, Sir. I didn't really fancy living on the range with a lot of smelly cows anyway." She rubbed her aching behind and admitted, "And I don't ever want to ride that darn mechanical bull again as long as I live!"
Cory laughed. "Done. How about we hold any more talk till morning?" He nibbled her neck as his hands caressed her heated flesh.
All thought fled.
Brazen
Elaine Hopper Yes," Tracy said.
"You and Charles really haven't known each other long [link widoczny dla zalogowanych], have you?" Mrs. Stanhope asked.
Tracy fought back her resentment. I was right. It is going to be an inquisition.
"Long enough to know that we love each other [link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Mrs. Stanhope."
"Love?" Mr. Stanhope murmured.
Mrs. Stanhope said [link widoczny dla zalogowanych], "To be quite blunt, Miss Whitney [link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Charles's news came as something of a shock to his father and me." She smiled forebearingly. "Of course, Charles has told you about Charlotte?" She saw the expression on Tracy's face. "I see. Well. [link widoczny dla zalogowanych], he and Charlotte grew up together. They were always very close, and--- well [link widoczny dla zalogowanych], frankly, everyone expected them to announce their engagement this year."
It was not necessary for her to describe Charlotte. Tracy could have drawn a picture of her. Lived next door. Rich [link widoczny dla zalogowanych], with the same social background as Charles. All the best schools. Loved horses and won cups.
"Tell us about your family," Mr. Stanhope suggested.
My God, this is a scene from a late-night movie [link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Tracy thought wildly. I'm the Rita Hayworth character, meeting Cary Grant's parents for the first time. I need a drink. In the old movies the butler always came to the rescue with a tray of drinks.
"Where were you born, my dear?" Mrs. Stanhope asked.
"In Louisiana. My father was a mechanic." There had been no need to add that [link widoczny dla zalogowanych], but Tracy was unable to resist. To hell with them. She was proud of her father.
"A mechanic?"
"Yes. He started a small manufacturing plant in New Orleans and built it up into a fairly large company in its field. When father died five years ago, my mother took over the business"
