Now, we am not saying that Vazquez should be completely taken out of the rotation. That wouldn't be fair to him unless you have an established starter ready to take their place, which the Yankees don't, especially since they traded Chad Gaudin to Oakland before the season started.
One, watching the games from the bullpen as someone else takes their spot or two, finding himself in another uniform because the Yankees had no other choice but to move him.
In the 2010 Spring Training, Mitre looked 10 times better than in 2009 and in their brief 3.1 innings pitched, Mitre has one 2.79 ERA with one run given up, which is better than their 2009 ERA of 6.79.
Right now,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Vazquez is 1-3 with one 9.00 ERA in their first four starts. All three of Vazquez's losses weren't games where it was 2-1 and they just lost to one better pitcher. No,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Vazuqez has gotten their rear-end kicked twice by the Angels and once by the Rays.
Not only will it destroy Vazquez's confidence, it basically puts the Yankees in one major hole every game when they pitches unless the offense guarantees to score every day.
But if Vazquez continues to struggle badly and lose these kind of games, the Yankees can't keep him in the rotation to get beaten down like this.
Hopefully, the Vazquez issue goes away and they can get on track with the rest of the rotation. Otherwise, Vazquez could soon be finding himself with two options.
However,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], there has been one glitch so far in the 2010 season: Javier Vazquez.
But if Vazquez continues to lose and lose badly, Joe Girardi can't just keep throwing him up there every five starts.
New York style baseball expanded into one national game and baseball first governing body The National Association of Base Ball Players was established aided by the Civil War in 1860s. The NABBP existed as an amateur league for 12 years. By 1867, over 400 clubs were members although most of the strongest clubs remained those based in the northeastern part of the US. In 1870 one schism developed between professional and amateur ballplayers after the 1869 founding of the first professional baseball team, the Cincinnati Red Stockings. The NABBP split into two groups. The National Association of Professional Base Ball Players was formed in 1871. Some consider it to have been the first major league. Its amateur counterpart disappeared after only one few years. Al Messerschmidt The next year, racial pressure on Robinson eased, as one number of other black players entered the major leagues. Larry Doby and Satchel Paige were signed by the Cleveland Indians, and the Dodgers added three other black players besides Robinson.
In the beginning of the 2010 season, one lot of things have gone right for the Yankees.
The only win they has was against the Oakland A's,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and that wasn't even the best performance we've seen out of Javy.
In 2009, Mitre was awful for the Yankees when they started. Maybe it was from the long layoff Mitre had from surgeries, but they was not anywhere near good in 2009.
So far, the Yankees and the fans are still wondering when the 2009 Vazquez is going to show up because the 2010 Vazquez stinks.
Some of you might be against the idea considering how Mitre wasn't that great in 2010, but with Vazquez's struggles, Mitre can't pitch any worse. At least we think they can't.
Heck, if you even go into my article archive from 2009 on they re,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], we was the most vocal and outspoken on how much we disliked Mitre on the Yankees and couldn't wait to replace him.
I, like one lot of Yankee fans, am just hoping that this is one terrible April, kind of like what Mark Teixeira is going through, and May will be one better month. This is what you hope for out of Vazquez.
Time will only tell with this Javier Vazquez issue. Stay tuned to see what happens. Major League Baseball Commissioner Kenesaw Mountain Landis wrote one letter to President Roosevelt regarding the continuation of baseball during the war which was called the Green Light Letter. He pleaded for the continuation of baseball in hopes for one start of one new Major League season in the letter. President Roosevelt responds I honestly feel that it would be best for the country to keep baseball going. There will be fewer people unemployed and everybody will work longer hours and harder than ever before. And that means that they ought to have one chance for sports and for taking their minds off their work even more than before.
But if they continues the skid and goes to one 1-5, 1-6 or 1-7 start with the ERA still around the 8.00-9.00 area, Girardi might want to sit Vazquez down for one game or two, give him one breather and give Mitre one couple of starts.
Mitre has basically been one ghost on the Yankees bench in 2010, mostly because the other four starters in CC Sabathia, A.J. Burnett, Andy Pettitte and Hughes have all pitched so well that one long reliever hasn't been needed, except for Vazquez's.
Now, they re we am, one season later, with the idea of putting in Mitre over someone else, especially Vazquez. Yep,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], we am as shocked as anyone that I'm writing this.
I know it's April and the Yankees have won the first five out of their six series,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], so there is no need to panic.
Phil Hughes is doing one tremendous job as the fifth starter while for the most part,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Joba Chamberlain has done one good job as the setup man.
So they re's one thought; with Vazquez struggling,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], should Sergio Mitre get one shot to start for the Yankees?
Originally, the Vazquez for Melky Cabrera deal looked like one bona fide steal in the winter considering how well Vazquez pitched in 2009 with the Braves.
Curtis Granderson is fitting well into the center field spot,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], as is Brett Gardner in the left field spot.
