Packers rookie TE Andrew Quarless might be worth a fantasy flier,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], as it appears he could get some decent opportunities to be a factor in the Packers offense in place of the injured Jermichael Finley (out 8-12 weeks). Quarless had four catches for 51 yards last Sunday, including a key 21-yard catch down to the Redskins' 35-yard line that went for naught when PK Mason Crosby's potential game-winning field of 53 yards hit the crossbar. He was also the intended target on a key 4th-and-1 pass on Washington's one-yard line that was incomplete.
Week Six fantasy tips: Tes
Steelers TE Heath Miller caught just 10 passes for 100 yards in the first four games of the 2010 season with QB Ben Roethlisberger out of the lineup. In Roethlisberger's 15 starts last season, Miller caught 75 passes for 787 yards and six TDs, something that shouldn't escape owners looking for TE help.
It's possible that other owners in your league have overlooked Jaguars TE Marcedes Lewis and his five TDs in favor of more-hyped rookies such as Tony Moeaki, Jermaine Gresham and Aaron Hernandez. If that's the case, make sure you grab the Jaguars' giant red-zone target immediately. Lewis, who has proven to be QB David Garrard's go-to guy early this season, has a favorable matchup against a suspect Titans defense that allowed more than 500 yards of offense to the Cowboys last week.
Pass-catching tight ends have fared pretty well against the Saints this season, so the Buccaneers' [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] is worth considering for a start this week. [link widoczny dla zalogowanych], who is making more than four catches per game, was held out of practice Wednesday, but he's expected to play.
TE Visanthe Shiancoe's quiet game against the Jets (2-28-0 receiving) had less to do with his tender hamstring, we hear, and more with the team's game plan. There's no reason not to start him against the Cowboys, who have had trouble in their nickel package and could struggle to cover a top tight end such as Shiancoe.
An intriguing fantasy player moving forward could be Rams rookie TE Michael Hoomanawanui, who has made a much quicker return from a high ankle injury suffered in Week One than expected. Hoomanawanui led the Rams in preseason catches and reception yards and shared the lead with two TD catches, quickly establishing a good rapport with fellow rookie QB Sam Bradford. WR With Mark Clayton out for the season, the rookie tight end out of Illinois could become an emerging weapon worth keeping an eye on.
Even when WR Randy Moss was with the Patriots, TE Aaron Hernandez was one of QB Tom Brady's top targets and led the Pats in receiving yards through four games. Hernandez is a candidate to keep the passing offense flowing with Moss gone and maybe turn into a deep threat. Until teams figure out how to limit Hernandez's touches, he will continue to rack up receptions and yards, and may see his targets increase with Moss gone.
