With respect to the return to Keynesianismhoweverthe Bush
administrationas I earlier pointed outhas beaten everyone to the
gunbeing prepared to countenance spiralling federal de

stretching on endlessly into the future. Contrary to traditional
Keynesian prescriptionshoweverthe redistributions in this case
are upwards towards the large corporationstheir wealthy CEOs
and their ?nancial/legal advisers at the expense of the poorthe
middle classesand even ordinary shareholders (including the pen-
sion funds)to say nothing of future generations. But the fact that
traditional Keynesianism can be bowdlerized and turned upside-
down in this fashion should not surprise us. Foras I have also
already shownthere is abundant evidence that neoliberal theory
