the market in the garment a better quality and quality,

NOT content with owning some of the most powerful luxury brands on the planet - including Louis Vuitton, Fendi, Marc Jacobs and Givenchy - Bernaud Arnault, ceo of LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], is in exclusive talks to buy French business paper Les Echoes from Financial Times publisher Pearson. Although LVMH already owns French daily La Tribune, financial weekly Investir,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], the monthly Connaissance des Arts magazine and controls Paris-based Radio Classique,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych],[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], journalists from Les Echoes went on strike - joined by their counterparts at La Tribune - to protest about the possible takeover which would centralise control of two of the country's most influential daily newspapers. "LVMH has always considered editorial independence as being of the utmost importance as it contributes to the credibility, legitimacy and success of any newspaper,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]," a company spokesperson for LMVH said. "If the sale of Les Echoes takes place, LVMH would include specific provisions in the agreement to ensure this editorial independence." Unease about the deal was fuelled by the close relationship between Arnault and newly-elected French president Nicolas Sarkozy. Pearson has dropped plans to put together a consortium to launch a bid for Les Echoes - the LVMH deal would value the business at up to 150 million.
