TWO-TONE SHOES
The premiere was in July, 2009, and the dress Emma was wearing is a vintage Ossie Clark. If you wanted a similar, original, vintage Ossie Clark, it could well cost anywhere between £1,000 and £2,000, according to Christie's textile and fashion expert, Pat Frost. However, there are cheaper options. Some pieces from the recently re-launched Ossie Clark label are available on net-a-porter.com's designer discount site, [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] . A 'Georgia', long,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], printed silk maxi-dress, for example, is reduced by 65% to £270. But you need to move fast as stock and sizes are limited. Alternatively, Ossie Clark's widow, Celia Birtwell , the print magician, has been enjoying a high street comeback in the last few years. Her most recent venture is a 25-piece collection for John Lewis ( [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] ), which is true to her romantic-boho style, first famous in the 1960's, and includes a full-sleeved, folkloric,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], silk dress in either a Romanian dancer or Romanian spot print, at £125, sizes 10-18.

Hilary Alexander unearths the perfect red dress, two-tone shoes and where to get Billie Piper's covetable earrings.
Dear Hilary, Please can you help. I have tried everywhere I can think of, without success. I am looking for an umbrella with a reflective covering which I can also use as a sunshade, as I find a hat makes me too hot. Ideally, I would like it to be small enough to go in a handbag for holiday use. I do hope you can help, many thanks, Claire, Eastbourne

Dear Rebecca,
Dear Grace,
UNPERFUMED HAIRSPRAYS
Dear Pat,
I'm afraid you were right. Elnett confirms it is no longer producing your favourite handbag-sized, non-perfumed hairspray. The only alternative I have been able to track down is a Silvikrin Sensitive Strong Hold Hairspray , 75ml, which is fragrance-free and handbag-sized, for £1.39, from major outlets and [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] Alternatively, Selfridges (0800 123 400) recommends Phyto-thytolacque Soie, for sensitive hair, £10 for 100ml, or Bumble & Bumble's Holding Spray, £5.50,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], for 50ml, both of which have a very negligible scent.
Happy Birthday! I hope either of the two swimsuits I've found will make the perfect present for you. The first is a retro-look, halter-neck, in navy and white spot, costing £35, sizes 8-24, from Marks & Spencer - [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] . It has a tummy control "bodyshaper" effect, and drawstrings, so the length of the "skirt" can be adjusted. The alternative is "Bali" by Seaspray, from House of Fraser . It's in a turquoise/blue,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], circle-print, sizes 8-16, and costs £78.
Our search has uncovered a limited selection; plenty of navy and white, not so with navy and cream. The best solution seems to be a Mary-Jane, with a low-to-medium heel, sizes 3-8, £30, from [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] . Alternatively, branches of Jones - [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] have 'Consuela', a navy and ivory court shoe, sizes 4-9, £79. If you can manage a slightly higher heel, L.K.Bennett stocks the 'Dulcina' Mary-Jane, in a cream and navy suede/leather combination, sizes 3-8, currently £195, in the mid-season sale - [link widoczny dla zalogowanych]
Dear Hilary, I am a fan of Elnett's handbag-size, unperfumed hairspray, ideal for travelling and holidays. However, I have been unable to find it in the past few months. although I can still get the ordinary size. I suspect it is being phased out. I don't like using perfumed hairspray because it conflicts with my own perfume. I have tried Boots' unperfumed hairspray, which comes in a handbag- size, but I don't find it as good as the Elnett. Any thoughts? Angela, West Sussex
Dear Hilary, My son is getting married in July and I have bought a cream and navy linen dress and jacket from Hobbs. I would like to find a pair of two-tone court shoes with a medium heel, to match. I love [link widoczny dla zalogowanych]. but will have to buy a less expensive pair, as they won't get used that much. Any information would be of great help, as I have only been able to find shoes with extremely high heels. Thanks,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Pixie, Stratford-upon-Avon

OSSIE CLARK, THEN AND NOW
Dear Hilary, I found a picture in a magazine of Emma Watson wearing the most gorgeous, long, floral-print dress, at the 'Harry Potter & The Half-Blood Prince' premiere in London. It's quite a while ago, but I wonder if you could tell me the name of the designer and where it might be possible to get something similar? Grace, Stroud

Dear Sabrina,
Dear Hilary, I would like a swimming costume, similar to the ones Esther Williams used to wear in her "aquamusical" movies in the 1940s and 1950s. They were quite elegant, with a "girdle" strip across the front. I hope to get one for my 70th birthday. Please help, Yours sincerely, Pat, Wiltshire

Dear Hilary, I hope you still offer advice on where girls can find their dream dresses. For a long time, I have been looking for a sweet, simple, plain red dress, preferably in soft cotton or knit. Recently, I saw the film Valentine's Day in which the singer-actress Taylor Swift wears a gorgeous red dress - just what I have been looking for. I cannot afford designer labels, so would you be able to suggest any high street alternatives, between £30 and £100? Thank you very much. Sabrina, Manchester
Dear Hilary, I love the earrings Billie Piper wears in Secret Diary of a Call Girl. I would love to find out where I can buy some and have been trawling the Internet to no avail. They are large pearl and turquoise drop-earrings, with gold. I'd be grateful for any clues, many thanks, Rebecca, Epping
Dear Hilary,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], On one of the Location, Location television programmes, Kirstie Allsopp wore a large, green-stone, dress ring, which took my wife's fancy. I would like to buy one like it for her, but I have not been able to find anything similar in the shops or on the internet. Regards, John, Bristol
Taylor's film appearance in the red dress is fleeting, but long enough to reveal it is short-sleeved, quite slim-fitting, and about knee-high. I have found three possibilities, one of which I hope will be your "dream dress".
A FORTIES SWIMSUIT
A DRESS FOR A LADY IN RED
Kirstie's gorgeous ring is an antique, set with an acquamarine, and was a present from her husband, bought at auction. You do not mention a budget, so I have sourced a selection from a variety of price ranges. At the top end, Michael Rose, Burlington Arcade, London, W1 - [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] rosejewels.com , has a 1940s, aquamarine, dress ring (single stone, 13.75 ct), set in platinum, for £6,950. At Grays Antiques,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], 58 Davies Street, London, W1 - [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] aquamarine dress rings, from the 1920s to the 1950s, range from £500 to £3,900. If you are looking at a smaller budget, you are in luck, as cocktail rings are a big, high street, costume jewellery trend. They start from £15, in the Freedom @ Topshop collection (01277 844 476), and from the same price, at Wallis branches (01277 844 464).
I think we have struck gold. The Knirps Y1 sun protection umbrella (pictured) - [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] - 020 7483 1991, is handbag-size and costs £34.95,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], including p&p. It's available in a variety of colours, and its Teflon-coated, canopy provides 99% UVB/90% UVA protection/SPF80. Alternatively, [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] -01204 840 701 - will be taking delivery in about a month, of another Teflon-coated polyester, sun-reflective umbrella, which costs £27.50, and can fit in your handbag. A further option is a unisex walking umbrella, from [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] - 0845 602 3712, called the Silver 2 Tone (ref 2061) in red, bright blue or black, with an exterior, sun-reflective silver covering. The good news is it costs £9.99; the downside is that it is 90cm long. Check with the airline if you could take it on board or whether it would need to be checked-in.
KIRSTIE ALLSOPP'S JEWELS
The earrings were designed and made by a new, young jewellery designer, Lucy Hutchings, who is rapidly building up a celebrity following. Cheryl Cole, Lady Gaga and Florence Welch are all fans of her work. Lucy is a graduate of the University of Brighton and set up her own studio in 2008. The earrings Billie is wearing are from last spring's collection. Lucy has the makings for a further two pairs, which cost £175 each, and can be ordered directly from her at [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] , where you can also browse her new spring/summer collection; it includes several pairs which are quite similar.
