Millionaires watched from the decks of super-yachts, moored alongside, and hundreds of St Tropeziennes crowded onto balconies of houses, the Office de Tourisme and the Bar du Port, to watch the most stylish event since Mick Jagger married Bianca here in 1972.

Karl Lagerfeld brought the town of St Tropez to a standstill last night for the presentation of his Chanel Cruise collection for 2010/11.
The previous night, his guests had watched the "premiere" of his latest movie venture, "Remember Now" , which was filmed in St Tropez, around the theme of a party, and features Leigh Lezark as both "Coco"and "Bianca", the model Freja Beha, as "Mick", and Karl himself, as himself.

The heady, sexy mood of the 1970s infused this cruise collection, where CC met BB to create a modern version of the "free spirit". Slinky, high-waisted flares, metallic hot-pants , a psychedelic swirl-print in amber and copper,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], broderie anglaise, suede,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], bleached denim , flounced "gipsy" skirts and gingham bikinis recreated the Bardot look of so many years ago for a new generation.
The models, with beach-hair, barely-there make-up, noticeable boobs and bums, and barefoot, (save for hippie ankle-bracelets) strolled down the street, swinging sandals in one hand, their nails glimmering with a new "blue anise" polish . A light breeze ruffled the flounces of water-colour-floral maxi-dresses , and frilled,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], flared trousers and tunics.

Floppy "picture" hats , just like Bianca wore for her wedding , accessorised the metallic, swirl-print jumpsuits in silk and chiffon. Microscopic "cage" dresses were slipped over black-and-white gingham swimwear. Chanel tweed "micro-shifts" glimmered with copper thread and fringing. And the legendary [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] "cardigan" jacket appeared in a new guise: The perfect accompaniment to a sequinned bikini-top and a pair of gold hot-pants, with matching gold " gladiators " laced up the leg.
