Giornetti Heads Ferragamo

SALVATORE FERRAGAMO has appointed company veteran Massimiliano Giornetti as the label's new creative director. Giornetti has worked at the label for ten years and currently heads up its menswear collections.
"This is not about what other designers like Graeme and Cristina have done,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych],[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]," he told WWD. "At a certain point,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], you need a person overseeing all the collections. My work in menswear made the family and Michele [Norsa,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Ferragamo's ceo] trust that I was the right person for the job."
Ferragamo?has seen several creative directors come and go over the past few years including Cristina Ortiz,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych],?Graeme Black and Nathalie Gervais. Giornetti remains unphased aiming to make the brand's collections more "relevant."
"For ten years, I have been working with the brand and I really understand the heritage and craftsmanship,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]," said Giornetti. "The family and other people inside the company give me extra strength and energy for this role. Basically,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], it is like I have grown up in the company. I started out as assistant to the?knitwear designer in menswear."
