Grins, giggles and furtive glances; hands over mouths to cover smiles. What were you watching at the Jil Sander show?
In many cases,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], it was not the clothes, but an assemblage of bodies with no clothes on at all.
Perhaps there was a connection between the use of semi-transparent industrial,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], techno-mesh, allowing a glimpse of veiled flesh, or the 'peepholes' inserted in the precision-cut tailoring, and the 'peeping Toms' the audience was turned into.
Simons similarly wrapped the body, but left sleeves disengaged, or left a jacket seam undone at the back to create the effect of a floating peplum. Elsewhere, triangular bits of fabric dangled from square-cut dresses, like seaweed clinging to a rock.
This device was particularly effective in the short shifts in iridescent dresses in shimmering gold polyester, where the dangling 'bits' moved with the model and caught the light like crystals in a chandelier.
Eyes darted from a passionate coupling in the desert between boy and girl, to a shift in cream, bonded wool/nylon, or a navy stretch dresses tied and knotted around the body, and, then,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], back to the screen where two had suddenly become four or five.

"Nature," explained Simons backstage,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], "nature, emotion and passion." He was referring, also, to the scenes of "Land Art',[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], by the likes of Christo, in which entire islands and rocky coastlines were wrapped and enveloped in fabric, and which had been screened before the show started.
Raf Simons took the bizarre step of showing scenes from the cult film,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], 'Zabriskie Point', on several large, ceiling-mounted screens. And the action going on up there was a lot hotter than the cool,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], intellectual collection.
