ONLY two days before it was due to show in Milan,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Just Cavalli has cancelled its catwalk show that was?scheduled to take place on Thursday. The brand has been high on the credit crunch news agenda lately as its licencee Ittierre SpA filed for bankruptcy.
Cavalli is?set to host a press conference tomorrow?at the Roberto Cavalli showroom in Milan,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych],[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], where the world's media will assemble to preview the collection. Just Cavalli reportedly accounts for around 30 per cent of Ittiere's revenues.
The?Versace youth brand VJC,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Versace Sport,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], C'N'C?Costume National and Galliano are all also operated by Ittiere although the Costume National show is scheduled to go ahead on Friday in Milan as planned. The company insists that the Just Cavalli collection for autumn/winter 2009-10 will go ahead despite the cancellation.
"I have made this decision in order to protect the Just Cavalli image and its clients,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych],"?Roberto Cavalli told WWD regarding the show cancellation. "The difficult Ittierre situation leaves me with no guarantee and no certainty that my young line will be as avant-garde as always."
