That goes for cigarettes too!I struggle to maintain unbroken sobriety [link widoczny dla zalogowanych], but in general have been mostly sober for about 4 years now. The good thing about AA is that they say "Keep coming back", no matter what has happened, at least, that has been my experience. If you genuinely want to stop drinking, people know you are trying, and give you a fair go. The longest I have had sober is 18months, and it wasn't always good, but I did make a lot of progress in that time. Sobriety beats drinking because when I am sober I know I am able to shape my future, I have hope. It all seems hopeless when I am drinking and I just want to die.So [link widoczny dla zalogowanych], one day at a time, I am reaching my goals.
I have dipped in and out of the 12 steppers for 8 years now. AA in Australia is a bit different from the US from what I can gather. Over here there's not as much emphasis on doing the steps and the whole spiritual kaboodle, which is frankly what puts most people off attending in the first place.
