It is quite simply astonishing just how much this song can be improved upon without altering its original essence. The original song embodies a relaxed soothing tone, just as one would expect from the combination of vocalist Justine Suissa and Trance legends Above and Beyond (collectively known as Oceanlab).
The progression of the intro builds up only slightly before the lyrics begin, and from this point on the effect is utterly mesmerizing. The clarity of the singing seems to ring in ones ears as the beat wraps around the words, building up only long enough to drop the subtle basslines once more.
The sheer power of Gareth’s beats coupled with the harmony of Justine Suissa’s vocal style place this track into a class all on its own, seamlessly unifying two styles of trance that seem to be in complete opposition with one another.
Emery’s mix on the other hand conveys the force and driving melodies that transform “Lonely Girl” into an epic anthem of progressive trance, expertly manipulating soothing vocals with a synthesis of energetic melodies and rhythm.
