unlike anyone he?d want to be with. They were
always ruthless and cruel. He supposed they?d had to be to survivebut
he just couldn?t stand for it. And so he was inevitably drawn to living
women who were all the things that the vampires he had known were
not. But this was a doomed venture as well.
They were human. They couldn?t truly understand him or
share in an equal relationship with him. Not for any real length of
time. Either they eventually became repulsed by his true natureor
covetous and resentful of it. They would glimpse small tastes of what
it could be like and inevitably beg for more. The relationship would
distort to become a strange parody of what it once wasinto a
revolving game of give and take where neither party would ever truly
be satisfied. Finallyhe would be able to stand it no longer. He would
know that he must change her or leave her. Neither choice was ever
gratifying.
Those he had changed had always done one of two things
perhaps not immediately but eventually. Either they would come to
hate him for their lives lostuntil they parted ways with him or with
their very existence; or their personalities would twist and evolve until
