History
The History of the Navitimer begins in 1942 with the launch by Breitling of the Chronomat. This was a wristwatch chronograph which incorporated a circular slide rule. This allowed pilots to perform a variety of calculations easily and conveniently.
The Chronomat was instantly popular with pilots and Breitling expanded the concept. The circular slide-rule was branded a "navigation computer" and, along with the chronograph features, provided a huge amount of functionality to pilots.
