Wek grew up in the war-torn Sudan,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], amidst strife and ongoing conflict,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], but since the day she was scouted by a modelling agency while shopping in London, Alek has been an international force on the fashion circuit.
Her journey is an amazing one and I really found myself captivated by the small snippet available (about 4-5 pages). Honestly, I don’t expect much from celebrity memoirs,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], but Wek’s seems not only sincere and compelling,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], but also well-written. She makes these really great insights into the ongoing culture shock she faced as a new refugee. They’re cute, but also a poignant reflection on refugee life in Europe. The book hits on August 28th or pick up a copy of Vogue for a preview. Blog-Tique book club anyone?
